Manganese ore prices to China were firmer Tuesday, with sources saying offers were rising despite slow demand as port stock values had been lifted by a stronger Yuan over August.
Oversea Related source assessed its daily 44% manganese ore price at $4.20/dry mt unit CIF Tianjin, up one cent/dmtu.

"We have not heard many transactions, but prices are holding and sellers are trying to push offers higher [by 5-10 cents]," a miner source said.

A Chinese trader said Australian 46% manganese ore transaction prices were at $4.43/dmtu in port, adding he had bought Gabon origin ore at $4.15/dmt CIF China in the second half of August.

A manganese alloy producer said he was expecting prices to remain at current levels until the end of the year.

Even with an improving exchange rate, "there is no demand to justify further buying," he said.
