[Ferro-alloys.com] It is reported that Iran plans to stop iron ore export after 2019, mainly because the country will consume more raw materials for its steel production and also faces on weak prices.

Iran’s iron ore exported 23.6 million tons in 2013 and 22 million tons in 2014, it expected the shipment would fall to 15-16 million tons in 2015 and further to 10 million tons in 2017. 

In the past two years, iron ore prices has slide by 60%, which caused its market share shrinking significantly. Besides, Iran also needs more iron ore at home as it plans to lift steel output to 55 million tons by 2025 from 16.3 million tons last year. Therefore, there will be no quantity to export from Iran in near future.
