Fastmarkets’ price assessment for October shipments of steel heavy plate export, fob China main port was $480-490 per tonne fob for the week ended Tuesday August 27, down $5-10 per tonne from $490-495 per tonne fob a week earlier. A northern China-based mill secured an order consisting of around 10,000 tonnes last week at a price of $482 per tonne fob. A source with knowledge of the transaction said the cargo is bound for Southeast Asia, which remains the main export market for Chinese plate. (Metalbulletin)
