[Ferro-Alloys.com] East China's Yantai port unloaded 317,000 tons of iron ores in 26 hours after a large-scale ship from Brazil berthed in the port on Feb 18.

 

The port unloaded 12,196 tons of ore per hour, beating the previous world record of 11,670 tons per hour.

 

Yantai port was able to overcome the shortage of personnel caused by the epidemic to complete the unloading process in record time. The port even received a letter of thanks from the captain of the ship.

 

During the epidemic, Yantai port opened a green channel for materials which improved the efficiency of ship departure, cargo unloading, and document handling.

 

Since the beginning of 2020, Yantai port has handled 41 million tons of cargo, up 6 percent than the same period last year.

 

The total throughput of cargo which improves people's livelihood, including coal, oil, grain and fertilizer, exceeded 11 million tons.

 

The port has handled and transferred materials for epidemic prevention and control in 18 ships with 499 containers, which has greatly helped meet demand amid the epidemic. （Chinadaily.com.cn）
