Economic Value News of Brazil reported on February 22, according to figures released by the Brazilian Steel Industry Association (IABR) on Monday, Brazilian steel production in 2020 was 30.97 million tons, down 4.9% from a year earlier.
According to the agency, Brazil's apparent consumer star was 21.22 million tons in 2020, up 1.2% from a year earlier. The domestic sales also increased to 19.24 million tons in 2020, up 2.4% from a year earlier.
In 2020, Brazil exported 10.74 million tons of steel, down 16.1% from a year earlier, and exported $5.36 billion, down 26.6%. Imports were 2 million tons and imports were $2.1 billion, down 14.3% and 13%, respectively.
The association predicts that Brazil’s crude steel production is expected to grow 6.7% to 33.04 million tons in 2021, the association predicts.
