It is reported that Guizhou high energy consumption industries have halted or limited the production, sharply cutting the demand for power.

 

After the hurt by the ice damage during this January and February, power sale of Guizhou Power Grid a subsidiary of China Southern Power Grid, started recovering. However, since late September energy consumption declined for the short demand, which has dragged down the electricity sales, with a negative growth of 6.88% in October.

 

Currently, electricity consumption in Guizhou Province has declined to 100 million kWh from this year's peak of 182 million kWh, and closed thermal power generating units has reached to 790 kW. It is said that continual global economic recession, domestic depressed development and electricity price adjustment has forced increasing high energy consumption companies to suspend or limit production.

 

Industries in Guizhou mainly depend on energy and raw materials, and energy-intensive companies use 60% of the total electricity consumption. It is reported that daily electricity consumption in industries has dropped to 55 million kWh at late October from 85 million kWh in the beginning of the month, with some default of charge at the same time. Furthermore, some state-owed enterprises have long been grappling with production cost problem and manage to assure smooth operation now.
