Tokyo, February 27, 2018 - PT ANTAM Tbk (IDX: ANTM; ASX: ATM; ANTAM) is pleased to announce the Company is now part of trade cooperation between Indonesia and Japan through trading of gold-kilo bar products (gold bar 1 kg weight). The cooperation is marked through the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ANTAM’s President Director Arie Prabowo Ariotedjo and the President Director of MKK Co. Ltd. (MKK) Akitaka Morita. The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan, H.E. Mr. Arifin Tasrif also witnessed the signing which was held on 27 February 2018 at the Embassy of the Republic Indonesia in Tokyo.

ANTAM's President Director, Arie Prabowo Ariotedjo, said:

“It is a privilege for ANTAM to be part of the trade cooperation between Indonesia and Japan through trades of gold-kilo bar products. The MoU will strengthen ANTAM’s position as a leading gold producer in Indonesia. The agreement reflects international trust and acceptance of ANTAM’s gold products as well as strengthening ANTAM’s status as Indonesia’s only precious metal processing and refinery with London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) Gold Responsible Guidance accreditation. The MoU will also enhance our business performance and competitiveness.”         

The partnership between ANTAM and MKK, the subsidiary of Mirai Kagaku Co. Ltd., the license holder of Sanrio Co. Ltd., is a part of ANTAM’s commitment to strengthen export penetration to Japanese precious metals market. The cooperation between ANTAM and MKK commenced since December 2017 through sales of gold minted bar with Hello Kitty design. Since the launch of Hello Kitty gold minted product, ANTAM has exported 10 kg of gold with projection of higher export volume in the future.           

Through the MoU, ANTAM has the opportunity to expand its gold export market share as well as gold import from Japan through MKK for the gold-kilo bar product. Under the MoU, the monthly trading value may reach up to 200 kg for one year. As the Indonesia’s only gold refinery with LBMA accreditation, ANTAM’s gold product is guaranteed to have 99.99% purity. With an accountable purity and weight assurance, ANTAM’s gold product is suitable for investment.    

Through this cooperation,  ANTAM also hopes that it will open other business opportunity and also promotes solid business relations for both companies and countries.
